Intro

Very few people have bothered to make a database of everyone they know, and for good reason — it's not easy. But when you're faced with the monumental task of raising a significant amount of money, it's one of the most important things you'll do.

You'll hear us refer to a database as a "Rolodex" here. If you're not familiar, it's an older term for a business card organizer. In this case our business cards are virtual, but the term carries on.

If you are at an established organization or have previously run for office, you may already have a full prospect list. However, it is likely out of date and less than comprehensive. Use this guide as a refresher.

Building your personal list

We like big lists, the bigger the better. We recommend pulling the following lists.
